My EG Project... - 01-23-2010, 01:25 AM

so i purchased a 95 civic dx with a blown head gasket for ubher cheap. it was one of those things where i didnt need another car by any means, but i couldnt say no. its really very clean, the honda rust is super minimal.

my plan originally was to just do the headgasket, replace the radiator the dumb kid drove around with (why the hg pop'd) and hope for the best. maybe keep it, maybe sell it, idk.

i went onto nyspeed today and found a semi-complete b18b swap for sale. this is the non-VTAAAKKKK 1.8 acura integra motor. 140hp, 125tq, very reliable. the motor was still in a rusty flat black hatch. it was missing headers, shift linkage, and a few other small bits.

i called a guy jeff that i know from nyspeed who races civic hatches. we decided to go halfs on the hatch, he is keeping the shell and im taking the swap. his gf and i are going to rock-paper-scissors over the sweet tiny aftermarket radiator the hatch came with.

i went and picked up the shell with jeff tonight. im going to pick up the civic sunday. jeff claims he can swap a honda in under 2 hours, i dont doubt this. he said if he gets bored he's going to pull the b18 tonight lol. he's a good dude.

my plan for this summer is low and slow. coilovers, bmw bottlecaps (or if i can find decent wheels for cheap i'll bite)

some snowy pics for the kids, like i said its nothing spectacular. just a old black somewhat clean civic-

worst of the honda rot, lol. pretty unreal for a 15 year old civic in buffalo. i hope no one steals it when i go visit beast on the west side

the swap is actually pretty clean. the motor was boosted for 400 miles so the pan is tapped. need to find a new pan, i'd rather do that than just try to cap them.

normally buying a swap like this (knowing it was boosted) would scare me, but for what i paid for it i couldnt say no. the b-series civic mounts that came already bolted to the motor new cost more than the whole swap cost me. engine harness is completely intact as well, not cut anywhere. should be pretty much plug and play (keeping my fingers crossed hahah)

and before anyone asks, the valve cover is totally staying pink!

the swap is pretty clean really...

headers just came in the mail today, b-series axles were shipped yesterday. found a p75 ecu on craigslist for $50 heh heh. all i need now (what i cant just buy at advance or anything) is the shift linkage damnit. someone find me some b-series shift linkage fuuucckkkkkk!!!!

i obv need some more little things like rad hoses, master to slave line, ect. im hoping to have it running and out of jeff's place by april
