So,
Jam came over and gave me a hand fixing the stroker.
Willem gave me his old head with a bad rocker.
Pulled my head and replaced rockers in willems old head.

Willem's m20 head had been sitting around for a while so Jam gave me a hand cleaning it up before we put it in my car.

Got it cleaned up and put it on with metric blues and called it a night.

More updates later

Did you get the old head off?

What is the diagnosis?

Curious to find out what happened.

Old head is off.

Not 100% on what failed.
But, looks like the valve is not coming all the way up.
Close but not all the way up.

Valve doesn't appear to be seating right, guide or spring..
So, could be slightly bent.
How I killed one...got me.

Here is my guess:

The valve springs are getting old. You probably were reving it pretty good. Valve float occurred due to the weaker spring and it smacked the top of the piston, ever so slightly and now the stem is bent enough that it has a bow in it. Therefore, it will not return all the way up. If you haven't put the other head on it yet, check the top of the piston on 5 and see if there is any type of mark......

Hmp.

Well, that sounds damn logical.

#5 had a little mark from kissing valve btw.

Bingo!

If you are going to use the car for track, you might want to invest in rebuilding the head, put good stuff in it - new rockers and springs. The head is the hart and sole of these engines, the bottom ends are pretty bullet proof, the heads need good rockers and springs and timing belt changes...

One other item when you took off the timing belt did you mark which way it was rotating (you may still have it on the lower crank pully) make sure to reinstall so that it stays in the same rotaional direction. If you took it off and did not mark it, replace it. If you are not sure of its age replace it. If you have any hesitiation about it replace it. Did I mention about replacing it! .
