2000 jetta code P1225-Cyl.1-Fuel Inj.Circ. Short to Ground

Ok...
driving around looking at houses... stop and walk around one get back into
da Jetta and crank.. no start.. crank.. no start.. crank starts up.. start
driving and "emissions work shop" msg flashes.. then engine check light. I read
the code with a generic code reader then clear it.. hasnt come back on since.

any ideas?

I have to say that this car was in a accident... front end collision. the cosmetics were done when I went and looked at it but some of the mechanical
stuff needed to be done still.. so I bought it as is and finished up the work.
It has run very well for 2 years now. It is a tad retarded as sometimes it thinks it is getting like 70mpg and it is 70 out but it thinks it is 32 deg...
I havent been able to figure out how to cure those random brain farts but
this is the first driveablity issue that has come up.
So is this a precurser to serious issue?
Thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm guessing the issue is unrelated to the accident since you have been driving it for a while. My guess is a sensor is on its way out. Next time the CEL greets you, get it on a vag com stat. I'd let you use mine... if you were a few thousand miles closer!

I picked Walt's brain real quick
usually short to ground on a fuel injector means its a bad injector
or could be bad wiring

I looked at a messed with connectors/wireing but couldnt get it to repeat.
It has been almost a week now and hasnt come up again so I am hoping it
was a glitch. The code did indicate #1 injector as I recall.

thanks for the feedback

I am thinking this is what happened. Like I said the car wouldnt start..
not that I cranked it for a long time but it failed to start twice then on the third go-round it started as usual.
If this comes back I'll post up what I find (if anything).
