I decided to start the Audi today...

And it wasn't feeling it today.

It cranked slowly, and smoke streamed from under the hood. Upon opening the hood, I couldn't locate where the smoke came from, and now it won't crank at all. No more smoke either. All of the lights come on in the on position, but there is no sound from under the hood, not even a click. I could however, hear a relay click behind the dash. I even tried to jump it. Nothing.

Any ideas?

Anyone want to buy it?

BTW,
1991 Audi 80 Quattro.

get ahold of someone with a bootleg copy of ETKA and find the part # for the factory smoke that you let out, they still haven't made a worthy aftermarket equivalent.

Battery?
There might be enough juice to turn on a few lights, but not enough to turn over the starter

^ What Rick said. The tiny Bosch starters do smoke when they go bad., and it may be drawing a lot of current while trying to turn.

The starters are only around $100 rebuilt and on a 10V aren't too bad to get to.

I like the starter idea. Possibly jammed or rusted solid?
