My vote is still for brake fluid. It takes a lot of drops to notice a leak in the reservoir and as it is a hydroscopic(absorbs water very easily) fluid, a very small ammount would diffuse into the snow easily causing it to look as though it were a bigger leak than it was.

And last I checked, animals can't float, meaning if it were animal pee, there would be tracks.
