Ughh. I started this Friday night around 8pm. Upper PCV was a snap.
Lower one was a huge biotch. I ended up cracking the oil dipstick tube so I just removed (what I could of) it. This helped out a ton and gave me more room. I busted a bendable hose as I was routing the lower one through the jungle of wires/hoses. I epoxied that hose and cleaned/regreased the DV.
Sat morning I made a parts run for a new dipstick tube. Get home and half of the old tube disintegrates and falls down into the oil pan (Including one the size of my thumbnail). Feck! I put the new one on, put the epoxied hose back in.
Made another run to Home Depot and Advance Auto for vacuum tubing, oil, and a coupler. A few months back I busted what people seem to be calling a "booster hose". I fabbed my own up since the OEM part is $50 and essentially 2 feet of 3/8" tube. My solution was $15 including clamps, hose, and coupler and is definitely stronger than the original.
I then drained my oil and dropped my oil pan because I was scared that plastic piece would eff something up. Cleaned that thing out including all the plastic bits. Good news: NO SLUDGING. I'm at 70k right now. I use 5w-40 every 5k or 6 months with the larger filters from ECS (Mahle brand).
I'm going to put the pan back on in the AM so my roomie can hold it in place so I don't hit myself in the face. I'll put together a PCV DIY with the links I used and the stupid shit that can be avoided. Quote: |
