I learned all about those cats on icanhascheezburger.com

I drive a 1.8t jetta and had to recently replace the dp/cat. I used a stock one and the car is now choked up. I want to get something around 2.5". The "high flow" cats are cheaper and I just wanted to be sure before I fork out money just to have to get another when it won't pass NYSI.

I used to have a inspectors license! did i ever look... nope! 75% of tech's just look for things you can upsell, brakes, tires, ball joints. but it just all depends what shop you take it too and who you know!

What, are all of you just tuning your first car now? Take the cat off, hog it out, put it back on...done.

Have to have a cat to pass NYS inspection.

Yes, more info. Relocating the downstream O2 sensor, for example, is a waste of money with a 2" cat-back system. I've also run 2 1/4" most times w/o a cel light issue. What motor and exh. diameter?

OK, sorry, obv. you'll be going bigger than that and need to get that downstream out of the dir. flow. I would still hog out the cat, though. That way you get max gain, don't spend needless cash, and can bring it anywhere for NYSI.
