throttle position sensor

so i think i need a throttle postion sensor. i know i cant just replace the sensor because it's the whole throtle body. i have a 98 jetta glx vr6. if i step on the gas lightly the car moves. but when i step on it all the way, the car goes for like 1.5 seconds and then bogs out. if i pump the gas pedal it will drive too. i dont know what to do. had it scanned today and the throttle position sensor had an error. could this be linked to wiring? i just replaces the mass air flow sensor today.
