has anyone rebuilt SAI pumps? - 03-06-2010, 12:13 AM

I have 2 secondary air injection pumps for 1.8t's and there both apart at the moment and I was trying to clean them out so I can make them work correctly again. I found a diy on fortitude on how to rebuild them...but mine isn't the same pump as the one off a b5a4. The a4 one looks exactly the same on the outside but once you open it up it has a bolt to remove the fan part, while mine seems not to some come apart anymore then just taking the pastic coating off. If you can find a diy for the 1.8t one it would be much apprieciated or if you have any first hand experience I would also be thankful. If pictures are neccesarry I could take some tomorrow, I just don't feel like going outside now.

p.s. if you already didn't know, I drive a 2003 gti 1.8t awp, thanks in advance for any help

If you want to just buy mine off me a little down the road I'll be happy to get rid of it.

i've had a few apart trying... once they're shot, they're shot. tried lubing and such, they're just plastic junk.

it may have not been snow... the combi valves will leak exhaust with lots of moisture into the pump and wreck them as well.
