In-dash CD player - 07-16-2010, 09:32 PM

I'm looking to buy grandma an in-dash CD player for her beetle. The OEM in-dash CD is ~$300, I'm looking to spend ~$150. I saw these a crutchfield and they look easy-to-operate. I'd like to put it and have it just work forever.

Anyone have an opinion about these brands or models? Thanks

I recently bought the version of the first one you posted with bluetooth. I like it a lot.

Running the ipod through the receiver takes a little getting used to.

Well, if it's for your granny, the first two look the simplest to operate, some times elderly people have trouble working electric devices. Just my .02

First thing I thought of also. You'll probably have the most luck with the first one.

Deh-3200ub is very user friendly. If you want to stop in and demo one I will be at work on Monday. I beat that Crutchfield price a little as well, Stafford.

jam- i still have a pioneer stereo that's gotta be 15 years old. i love that about it.

superfan- it's beautiful and i think i would buy it for myself. how do you like the wheel? i think i want to stay with a knob.

lowly & kurt- i'm thinking those two. the cluster of buttons to the left of the knob on the clarion is really appealing

dh- i'll come see you. keep in mind crutchfield throws in the facepate and wiring and antenna adapter.

jam- no, she just wants it for cds

i was hoping someone would steer me away from the clarion, i've read good things about them in the past. i like that the power button is right in the center of the leftmost controls. i like that there's a knob. i like that it is as simplistic as possible. i've just never owned one.

Check out Nackamichi, expensive, but look like something from 1989. VERY simple, clean controls. The cdx-300 or 400? are very basic (am/fm, cd, no mp3 or any of that shit), just cut and dry indash units. Expect to pay $350-550 though... I had one in my old V8 Quattro, loved it.

Lowly- outside my price range, but i have heard great things about the nakas

does anyone have any experience with the SiriusConnect SCC1?

SiriusConnect™ Car-only Tuner Add SIRIUS satellite radio to your car stereo (Model SC-C1) at Crutchfield.com

Costs $60 and I can add it to either the Pioneer DEH3200UB or the Clarion CZ300 with an adapter. The Clairon adapter adds another $50. The Pioneer adapter adds another $70.
