my fsi does the same thing... sometimes when i start it its starts up a little rough then theres a very faint what sounds like metal on metal tink tink tink.

ive asked around a bunch on the other forums and ive come back with what could be the cam follower, some other chain that comes loose and hits its houseing? alot of ppl have the same problem tho. it bothers me but other than that it runs strong. and its only happening at idle it goes away when i give it any gas....

so good luck if u find out what it is let me know and vice versa

3 things that'll make that engine noisy like that.

1. Cam follower and camshaft
2. Cam tensioner failing
3. Clogged pickup tube. Please make sure you're using vw 502/505 oils.
