Hi from Mayville - 02-08-2010, 05:48 PM

Hi. I have a 2000 Jetta VR6 whom I love, but the poor old guy is starting to show signs of aging. Dieter is slated for a new radiator and 2 rear wheel hubs this week. I'm also curious if any of you boys know if an electric, heated seat can be fixed or if it just has to be replaced. So that might be my first post. The seat does not move back and forth when instructed.

Anyway, pleasure to meet you all.

Hey greetings!

To follow what Jam was saying, if nothing appears to be working on the seat then it may be something upstream from the seat itself(seat relay?). In any event it would mean pin-pointing where power to the heater/motor is getting lost.

How much snow do you have? I am down in Jamestown 3 days a week and depending on where you are there's quite a bit. I went through Stockton the other night and the snow piles were huge!

seat heater elements burn out from time to time. call the dealership and ask if you car is covered under the recall for them, you might get lucky. otherwise the seat has to be torn apart and a new element put in unless it's an electrical issue up stream. 9/10 it's the element in the seat itself.

about time ya made it here!! lol! -- to clear it up the seat controls are fubar, and when you could move it, if you had it set for anything other than full down and tilt forward it wouldnt hold psition and would rock, so there is something in the seat mechanicals that is broke or missing. it hink she would be happy even with a manual seat that still had the seat heater.... gotta have the bun warmer!
