Hi everyone - 02-12-2010, 06:50 PM

Hey DITB members,
My name is mike, im from hamburg and i own a Mk4 Jetta 1.8T.
I am very new to the whole scene, and very interested in learning more about my car and options to play with.
I always have liked VW, BMW's, and Audi's. so please be easy on me and please help me with a few things.
for starters i do want to open up the intake.
1. cold air intake
2. BOV
3. Exhuast
4. FMIC
5. Ignition system
6. Injectors
please let me know some of the best places to find these things, and let me know if there is anything else that is recommended to do these upgrades. I do have some backround on Turbo systems but never owned a car or worked on setting up the system. I dont want to "short change" my car on power or things it may need. I am not looking to get to crazy with power but i do want the car to have some pick up.
Once again i am new and dont know to much about the car or options. Thank you again everyone who reads this and who replys with usefull answers.
Mike

The first thing you should get is software. Either apr, giac, unitronic, or revo.

I actually wouldn't even bother with an intake. They are a waste of money on the 1.8t.

There are a lot of knowledgable 1.8t people here.

wut up!

welcome to the show.

If I could do it all over again I'd go this route:
Drop in K&N Filter
An ECU Flash (Unitronic, APR, GIAC)
Boost Gauge
New Diverter Valve (I have the Forge 007)

There are some nice exhaust systems out there but I'm not familiar with them. My car actually came with a neuspeed exhaust and I bought a stock one and swapped it in.

Great write-up! I forwarded it to my future brother-in-law to aid him with his damn car.

welcome fellow hamburger. like they all said, DV and a boost gauge to start and softwear. airintake doesnt do a lot but it sounds cool lol. i had a TT short shifter and an ECS pedulum mount- look into that maybe it makes the car feel a bit more crisp. any Q's should be eaisly answered on here.
