Helloooooooooooooo! - 08-30-2010, 05:27 PM

Hi everyone, my name's Lite, and I'm new (obviously). I just moved to Amherst after being out of school (UB) for eight years. I drove a Volvo back then and used to be on the ubrf.org forums, which I understand are now defunct. I love my VWs, though, and I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible. If anyone needs help removing or installing a transmission, please let me know, especially mkI-IV..

No good pics right now because my digital camera went up in flames when my old mkIV caught fire last year, but I'll get some soon enough. Here's some old ones.

New Ride:

Also, if anyone needs parts for air-cooled VWs, let me know. My Dad has a ton of them.

Yes, it's a 225 TT w/APR 93 program, and that's her good side. The front right fender is twisted up and the bumper is broken, and today, somebody decided to scrape my rear right fender (probably on campus or @ Wegman's; who knows). Oh, and the hood is all messed up because the cousin I bought it from left it out in the hot Florida sun for four years, and since it's aluminum, it baked itself from the inside out...

I wasn't running on all four cylinders when the Golf caught fire, and smoke started pouring into the cabin from the e-brake hole; I pulled into the closest parking lot I could find and she went up in flames. I'm guessing it was dumping gas into the cat, and once the cat got hot enough, it combusted. Kills me, though. I really loved that car. I've always liked VW's 8v motors, too, but I can testify: the AEG 2.0 is crap!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'd like to add that I LOVE that you can swear on this forum... That being said; I'm a big karaoke slut. Who's got karaoke in Buffalo (or Amherst)?

Oh, and my avatar is what we call a shot of "Waz," and it's very popular in Utica, where I lived last. Does anyone else drink this stuff out here? The actual name is Wisniowka, and it's made by a company named Nuyens.. I asked the man at Captain's Liquors on Niagara Falls Boulevard order me a case, since I'll be buying a bottle every two weeks or so.

Can't wait until it cools down, too. The 1.8t doesn't like 90 degree weather...

And thanks for th nyspeed reference; it's funny how I run into people who were on that site five years later, but in real life..
