FiOS

Does anyone here have one of the FiOS bundle packages? I'm trying to find out how much it costs for TV + internet and TV/internet/phone. Verizon's website won't let me see bundle prices bc it isnt in my area yet (east amherst). I got home from work today and realized I couldn't watch the bills game bc Time Warner is a douche. When FiOS is available I'm thinking about switching but would like to see bundle prices. Thanks in advance.

You can see that place from my GFs apartment, and they don't offer it to her either.

Hmm., I just saw two of those tents in front yards on the way home. There were signs saying FiOS demo here. They did my neighborhood at least a year ago. They just added a whole other area behind me this year.

I don't know about the TV yet. Adam would probably know though.

The fios tv hub has been set up for a few months now... however franchising rights have held up 95% of the rollout. Whenever verizon & the local gov's come to an agreement it will be up in running in areas where FIOS internet is available

Finally found info on bundle prices. The top tier internet connection (20Mbps up and down) + TV is about $123/month. I guess you can get better deals if you sign up for a long term contract, but wtf? Long term contracts for TV and internet now? Its bad enough with the cell phone companies.

And to put in perspective just how much the telcos screw us over here, know that starting last week, japan has available GIGABIT fiber to residentials for the equivalent of $56 US. Yes. 1Gbps. 100x faster than cable. To your door. For $50.

Hold up. Agreed on how the telco's are charging too much. But its new and you know how all new things are. But as for speeds Im by far not a cable supporter but. With the new DOCSIS 3.0 they will be able to get gigabit speeds. Right now I believe they have a 40d / 30up Mbits on the current DOCSIS 2.0. But the cable companies are throttle that down to what 10d/5-3u. Got to love that one. I have a 20mbit connection and I never use the whole pipe I might use 4mbit down and 2 or 3 up and thats on a good day. I guess over all it doesnt matter what size pipe you have it only matters who you are connecting to and what pipe they have. Japan might have 1gbp connections but everyone else has a 10mbit connection. Japan home users can just have more people connecting to them and not feel a bandwidth crunch. Little FIOS info. If you have the TV piece and use On-demand your bandwidth gets opened to 100mbit while your using on-demand. But again it doesnt matter. But cool to know
