So I've been thinking

about parting the B5 out swapping some stuff over to the B6 like the stage III kit and selling the B5 in stock form.. Why would I do this?

BMW F650GS as my DD

Or the F800GS

Thoughts on this?
I've owned a sportbike in the past and don't have any interest in those anymore, I've got that urge out of my system..

Pros is I'm consolidated to one car and way better gas milage with the bike.

i think you should part the b5 out completely if you're going to get such an awesome bike.

going fast in a car can't compare to a bike IMO (being reasonable, i dont care what bike you have an r8 or 911 turbo have thrills all their own) the only reason youd have a car is for the winter, when your driving a girl, or when it's raining. get your fast thrills on the bike and keep a stock, more reliable b6 when its not bike weather.

just my .02 thats what i would do if i had multiple cars and was looking into a bike.

Im assuming you are looking to buy new since those two are 09's...

The 650 doesn't seem too appealing. Low horsepower and essentially cheap 800 leftover parts and you are still looking at 9k after taxes/fees...

The 800 is a nice enduro if you are willing to fork over 11.5k with tax/warranty/fees. roughly 15 more hp and better gearing, more durable, reviews said it handle a beating way better than its lil 650 brother...

If money wasn't an issue, the 800 would probably be in my top 5 for traveling.

Considering anything else? There are tons of better options out there for half the price imo, but not new.

I hear you Shrives and I'm aware they are both 09s. I was doing some looking online and came across some demo models and a few pre-owned for a good price. Not really looking to do anything until spring and I'm sure their will be more options come then.

I know that there are more and better choices out there but IMHO nothing comes close to the looks of the BMW bikes...

This summer when I was in Mexico I came across this at a show and this is what turned me onto them..
Not sure what model this is but I know it was new seeing it was from a mexican dealer down there.

I'd say go for it. You've got the B6 already so you can play around with that if the mod bug hits you, plus you're all set for Buffalo winters. Those bikes look like a ton of fun.

Part the damn stock B5 bumper to me, look, you already have 1 part sold. Back to the bikes. I'm just curious as to what those BMW bikes are considered? They sort of look like an enduro that has been converted to see a bit more road use? I know they are not sport bikes, they aren't trails bikes, but i seem to see that "style" of bike more and more. I want a Ducati 1000S in the worst way ever since I went to the Toronto show with my dad this year, hearing a Ducati going up Delaware yesterday when I was eating at Spot didn't hurt either. From a block away I knew it was a Ducati by the sound.
