SOS! VW'er in need of help! My TDI isn't charging AND it's not boosting with new turb - 08-26-2010, 12:44 PM

Hey guys.. I'm new here, but known of this website since I was a VDubber in NC whilst in the Army.

I currently have the car in my signature. I recently blew my VNT15 and replaced it with a used one from Bob Fout from tdiclub. The turbo is in great shape, pretty clean, very little soot.. it spools with the car running (the impeller is turning). The car used to sound like a jet plane the turbo was so loud. Now, you can barely hear the turbo unless you rev it up. The car isn't boosting at ALL. No matter what I mess around with.

I also just replaced the alternator (old one was only a year old; had a bad clutch.. new one is OEM Bosche unit), battery (730cca w/ 3year warranty), alternator-to-battery cable, cleaned grounds etc.. and the car is still using battery power and not collecting power from the alt. I've been elbows deep for days on this thing and I'm stumped.

I live in Orchard Park right by where you guys meet.. very close to taffy's. I really need somebody to come to my house and help me out here. I can buy lunch and/or pick you up with my other car if you dont have gas etc. I just really need this thing fixed and I am absolutely stumped.

My number is 319 8995 so call/text/PM for more info if you can help

Matt

EDIT: Also, the car has a CEL on. My buddy who's actually a cummins guy says that since this is a VNT car.. the ECU can actually shut-down boost if there is an issue. I'm gonna get the cel read and see what it says.

I'm not trying not to spend money; i've spent a lot on parts lately. I'm currently talking to badnewsmini trying to figure things out.

I hear he only works on Tdi's and works out of his home garage (i think thats kinda shady), and is a more or less case by case (aka how busy he is, and how much he doesnt want to work on your car how much of a prick you are) . but he is usally pretty cheap.

Hes done everything from
motor replacment, clutch replacment, auto-manual swap, injector replacment, frost heater install, key programing, ect....
