Highway Speeds - 03-30-2010, 01:04 AM

So I drove from Buffalo to Raleigh, NC this past weekend.

Seemed like no one was doing the speed limit. Almost everyone was going over which got me to thinking - I wonder how fast most people drive on the highway.

So the question is:

How many MPH over the speed limit do you normally drive when your on the highway assuming the road is dry and clear?

Depends on traffic I guess.

I stick to roughly +10mph.

+1 in my truck.

I rarely drive at higher speeds anymore. Nothing to do with safety just got tired of being hassled, getting tickets etc.

Used to cruise at 85-110mph all day long in various bimmers/pcars.

The truck does a good job of keeping me from driving like that anymore, plus it's not fast and doesn't handle very well with 275/65/20's on it.

On the highway usually 75-80 regardless of posted limit. For some reason I just cruise right up to 80 and stay if I'm not focusing on my speedomter.

On long drives to pa/Ohio usually between 80-95.

I know speeding is bad, just can't help it sometimes. Haha

I drive considerably changed the way I drive over the last couple years. I almost always stay around 5-8 over the posted speed limit. Along with driving a bit slower I am also shifting really low and my mpg's on my work commute have gone from around 22 to 27.
