'09 GTi, CBFA TSI motor +K04 +GIAC = holy crap - 04-09-2010, 11:15 PM

it's been a while since I've truly been impressed by a somewhat reasonably-priced mod, and this nails it. The car in question was initially a stage II car with other software, and Eurojet turbo-back.

We installed AWE's K04 kit, which comprises of this:

We also installed their turbo outlet pipe.

This kit, along with S3 IC, a good turbo-back exhaust, and AWE's intake will do a solid 315-320 at the wheels.

Turn the ESP off, roll into the throttle at about 4k in second....wheelspin. Stab the throttle at 3500 in 3rd....wheelspin. Is it controllable? Yep, with good tires, and judicious use of the throttle. However, with all of this power, the around-town drivability is outstanding. No spikiness, no BS.

Caveat: if you have the CBFA engine, you have 3 oxygen sensors. 2 pre-cat and 1 post-cat. The factory turbo in these cars has an o2 bung, along with one just ahead of the cat, and one behind the cat. Most aftermarket downpipes don't have the correct provisions for the 2 pre-cat sensors. So, most downpipes will have to be modded, which we offer also.

Rob did a great job on the install and is VERY familiar with these later 2.0T cars. Rest assured, your car will be in good hands while it's here.

So, with that said, here's what I'm going to offer for a short time:

Full turbo kit, GIAC software, turbo outlet pipe, downpipe modfication, labor and sales tax for a grand total bottom line of:

$3700

I can't wait to do another one.

Wow. Great price. I've been trying to piece together a price for a k04 on my AWP and it's close to that for everything, not installed, and with minimal power gains.

Actually, no. He lives in Canandaigua, and isn't on here at all.

Found us through the GIAC site.

Great deal. Too bad I still don't live in buffalo as that's very tempting.

I would assume so based on the dyno plots, but I tend to only post results and impressions of cars that I've actually driven.

Pretty impressive stuff indeed.
