yes i understand, but all ive read plus the dyno i saw shows stock injection with bmw maf is not compatible due to so much air comming in it will still lean out unless you bump fuel pressure up to 35/40 lbs. and then bigger injectors help with the top end. yes it runs rich low end, and im setting it up stock before i put in the modded injection.

out of curiosity, why did you not find either A) a 16v for a few hundred and rebuilt, then put into you car and go from there, becuase with all the time and hard work you are putting into this, money for HP would be better of spend. Or buy a 16v car and rebuild. I mean, i respect what you are doing, but wonder why

well for less then 200 bucks ive built a solid bottom end with all rings bearings gaskets ect.
got a solid shell for 200 with all the trim i needed. i dont want a 16v anyway.
found every 8v performance part at 25% the cost it was retail.
and if you just skim vortex, 16v's make more power stock,an 8v done right can net nearly the same gains. 16v's are more expensive to build up, somewhat less reliable, and i want my low and mid tourque, 22mpg when beating on it. i want to be different but not too simple and like i was mentioning its a daily driver that will do well on autoX. and beat cars above its class.
Maybe I couldve done a VR or 16v swap for the money i put in to this. but i dont want a heavy non-handler. i want the light car, 4 doors, gas milage, but when i get on it it moves the way i like it too. im not abt to blow doors off people, i just want my own, very first home built car. this is the first of many. and im not looking for max power. i want great midrange/handling as VW intended.
if all goes well like i said b4 i will have a turbo next spring and then you wont wonder why i did it anymore. im on a budget with 3 kids, im not gonna blow lots of money on something i can easily destroy on the first day. if this didnt work out i would still be fine. a vr gone wrong there goes 1k+ that i cant get back. i can find and rebuild an 8v for pennies. and the rising gas prices wont hurt me until i decide to turbo.

im doing it all my way. thanx for asking

Sounds like a lot of thought and planning have gone into this. I can't wait to see the finished product from both this year and next year when you power up.
