I think it's a good move. It's a never ending $ pit. First it's $1000 here, and another $500 there, and you really should do the $700 whatever...

Getting a car that is more performance oriented in the first place is a better move (S4, M3, Vette, ect.) A 500whp Volkswagen will never be reliable. It seems like Mike is looking for something he can hop in and drive during his time off.

Wrench 90% of the time and drive 10%? That's got to get old. Especially with that kind of $ invested.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner.

Putting 2000 miles on a car over the course of 3 yrs. is no fun.

in. dont sell it.

- edit- i shouldn't say that, cars to people like us are more than just cars. they are memories, they are friends, they make friends. i miss all my cars but theres always something different out there to start new with.. there seems to be a lot of history, time and money in that car though, seems like a shame to let all that get away from you being so close to finished. either path taken will lead to new begginings, just gatta figure what is most important.

but if u keep it ill still chip in haha

believe me i know plenty of what mike's going through, it comes with the territory of owning a corrado. i was about ready to dump mine last year but the process of the motor swap and rebuild got me invigorated again. this year has been great, i've put more than 4k on the car which is more than probably the last 3 years combined. course the downside is despite dumping $$$ into the motor this spring, its burning oil now so it looks as if my piston rings are probably crapped out, what a pissser. cycled in some lucas with my last oil change and it looks like it may be slowing the burning down, jury isn't out yet. but i digress....

bottom line is mike's going to do what he needs to do, one of the few things thats a bigger money pit than a corrado is a houes, always projects to be done, i know. but above all else, i will say this, if you do part with the corrado mike, it's only time before your back in another one, you'll get the itch to drive around in one again and rock out with the spoiler up.

I've been through more than enough shit with my own project and I can completely understand where you're coming from. my car's been forsale on vortex.... 3 times now I believe but not once could I follow through with it. I even had a part out thread.

With having my car down for new motors so many times, its truly made it hard to pick back up and start rebuilding the SAME f'n thing that i've built twice before, and getting nothing additional out of it. But once you crank that bitch over, and rip it down the block for the first time its truly all worth it.

My suggestion would be to dump that last grand into it. Don't look to the future of "oh well while its apart i might as well get blah blah blah"..... just get it running. Then you have somethign that you can sell outright for $XX,XXX, or keep. If you sell it now, without doing that tiny bit of work needed(in the big picture) you'll be cheating yourself out of not only a car... but possibly additional thousands of dollars on resale.

Parting the car out is going to be worth much more $ than selling the car as a whole running or non running. Why put more $ into it and go through the hassle? Im sure mike can find something else fun with the $ that more suits his current interests.
