radio wiring mk2

so i have a 1990 diesel jetta and i started putting a new radio in it today and i go to look up the wiring diagram for it online and all the websites that i found show different color wires and more wires then i have....so then i checked my brothers cars and their wires are the same as online but not mine.....so can anyone help me out....it seams that the only difference is their are only two neggatives wires for the 4 speaker on mine so i spliced them and still nothing...it turns on fine but wont play..does anyone have any idea? or can anyone lend a helping hand? Thanks
