HID conversion - 08-31-2010, 12:29 PM

Anyone have any experience with a HID conversion? I've lost 4-5 low beams in the past two years on my B5.5. It seems as if doing a HID conversion would eliminate the issue. I'm not getting rid of my car anytime soon, so if I can get a year, year and a half out of a bulb, and improve the lighting, it seems like a win-win situation. So, has anyone tried this? Any recommendations as to which kit? VVME?

Thanks!

I'm afraid I haven't done one myself, but I used to go through them like crazy on my mkIV Golf, then I had a good look under the hood and realized that the plastic behind the headlight bezel wasn't properly fitted, so gunk was making its way in there and making them burn out early. It's worth checking out for a cheap fix.

Everything has been checked out already. Nice and clean. Thanks though!

Pulling one of the relays will eliminate the DRL. Which apparently is mandatory when doing this anyways.

Yeah, 4500k-4000k seems like the ticket.

Thanks!

Have you done it on your MKV? I would def do so considering the price
of HID bulbs.

DRL have to be turned off with vagcom on a mkv I believe. Or it could be something totally different that I'm thinking you need to use vagcom for.
