Car transport to CT - 11-07-2006, 01:25 PM

I have a guy that wants to buy my '71 Mercedes, but he needs the car transported. I figured I'd post this up before I look through the phone book. The car is in West Falls and would have to go to Old Saybrook, Ct. It is RWD, automatic, and it weighs about 3200lbs. If anyone can do this or knows someone who can, please let me know ASAP. I want this car out of my life. Thanks!

sak,

when i bought the vr6 jetta and when i sold it i used DAS-Dependable Auto Shippers- 800-826-1083

I had nothing but good experiences with them both times i used them, they are located downtown somewhere i forget where. And they were the cheapest carriers in the area, i shopped around for 5 other places and they beat all the other quotes by a good amount. Insured as well.

Just a thought if he's willing to pay shipping

Thanks, I used Dependable once before for one of my cars and they were pretty reasonable. Slow, but they all take twice as long as promised to deliver, I'm used to that by now. He's willing to pay shipping I guess!

I don't know if I'm ready yet, when do you need it done by?

If you feel like doing the tie-down, and he can do the un-hooking it might be doable in the near future.

I won't be able to climb around and underneath for awhile though.

I don't blame you, probably the last thing you want to be doing right now! The car isn't running right now, so I'd need a winch on whatever tows it. Or a bunch of strong people. I could do all the tie down stuff. I don't really know when he wants it done, and thats providing he doesn't change his mind. I'll definitely need a big deposit before I make definite plans.

I guess see what a commercial carrier will charge and when it needs to go down and we'll see at that point. If the commercial carrier can do it for about what I would, then you might as well use them and avoid any extra labor.

Bah. The guy is not answering his calls- ignoring me for the second time. How can these people justify wasting so much of my time? Thanks though.

Impulse buying. People get all excited and then afte awhile they decide they can either do without or it just isn't that important to them. Or they spend their money elsewhere, especially this time of year. Probably the worst time to try and sell a car or just after New Year's when everyone is paying of their credit cards.

Keep on him and good luck. Be firm that you guys more or less had a deal, but don't drive him away if you really need to sell it.
