I just bought badnewsmini's 06 GLI, and he recommended Basil Volkswagen. There are some rust issues, especially with the trunk. Will the rust warranty cover that?

Honestly it's best just to bring it to the dealer for them to look at.

I agree. Had my trunk replaced by Basil under warranty, they have always been great to deal with. The rust was coming from the license plate lights, they allowed water in, and rust was formed.

It has to rust from the inside out, its kind of tough to get certain things covered. But its always worth a shot to have them try and submit it and see what VW says. It has nothing to do with the dealership, its all VW final decision.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have them look at it.

Had the same issue with my mark 5 and now again with mark 6 gti. VW is still dealing with me trying to fight them... mk6 even has the cheap little foam inserts that claim to help. They don’t. Also dealing with basil. Call and complain to VW direct. I do it often and give them a piece of my mind. They don’t have a fix for the issue so next winter after they fix you can expect it again. I did get it fixed once and it was not cheap... happened again the following winter. Good luck and I hope these rust wagons will start solving this issue.
